Today we traveled to memorial mountain to visit the Holocaust museum called Yad Vashem. The museum itself was very interesting. It was structured in a triangular shape and it went underground through the mountain, and narrowed as you went through the museum. We had the pleasure of listening to a Holocaust survivor. She shared her amazing story that included the struggles of escaping from the Nazis. We then took a tour through the museum. It was an emotional experience. We were able to not only learn about the history, but also hear specific stories of Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Also, we visited the children’s memorial which was a moving experience. Later, we went to help the JNF trim pine trees to protect them from catching fire. We also played a trivia game that consisted of Israel geography. After a long hot day, we traveled to the Bedouine tents in the Negev Desert where we would be spending the rest of the night. We had a feast that night and were able to really take in the culture. Also, we had a bonfire where we sang songs and got to know each other. Then we all slept (by sleep, I mean did not) in a large tent.
