...and we're off

Friends, All of our intrepid travelers have arrived at the airport. We've spent a full afternoon snacking, getting to know one another and talking about the exciting journey which lies before us. Our deepest gratitude to Rabbi Bennett Rackman of the International Synagogue at JFK, who hosted us for the day and provided us with a full assortment of snacks and hospitality. Tradition says that each time a Jew returns to the land of Israel, he or she brings a piece of the Shekhinah, a glimmer of God's holy presence, back to the land. We are awestruck by the gift we give and receive today and look forward to ten days filled with meaning and purpose -- and a lot of fun. Those of us on the staff thank you for entrusting your travelers to us. It is our privilege to accompany them and to become a part of our lives. We'll check in on our return tomorrow. Rabbi Elyse Winick Associate Director for KOACH United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, Department of Youth and Young Adult Services.
