Apart from the spiritual awakening this trip is giving me, I was told the bonds I would have are similar to a camp experience, but in reality it's much more. Although we have only started our third day together I feel as though the relationships that I've formed, and the relationships I've seen around me are extremely strong and genuine. I'm mostly pleased with how easy it has been to connect with our Israeli's, all of which love to talk, teach and listen. I'm looking forward to growing these relationships over the next week. I'm lucky to be part of such a wonderful Birthright family.

that's really sweet, I am glad you are feeling like a family already. Hopefully you can post some pictures of your family soon too!
I do really feel like
I do really feel like everyone on this trip is like a family. All the people are so nice. I'm glad I chose Shorashim because I'm learning so much about Israel. We are able to not only experience this wonderful place but also learn about the culture first hand from the Israelis. I look forward to the upcoming days.
Getting to know...
Not only has this trip been about getting to know Israel and the people traveling with me, but it has also been about getting to know more about Judaism. We are now on day 6 of our journey, and we are more than half way through this wonderful experience. I feel blessed to be here with other Jewish people from across the United States and Israel.
On day four we went to the old city and the western wall, and on day six we went to Yad Veshem. The holocaust memorial was truly an incredible place. The range of emotions that I felt going to these two places are indescribable; both bringing me to the brink of tears. Prior to coming on birthright, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I thought I had an idea of what I would feel. However, the emotions I felt were more powerful than I could have ever imagined.
Sharing my first Israel experience with this group will no doubt be one of the most memorable moments in my lifetime. Thank you to taglit-shorashim for providing this tremendous opportunity. Whether or not I stay in touch with the other members of the trip, I will always share a special bond with them -- Israel.
