45 Degrees Celsius

The last two days have been the hottest of the trip; they have also been some of the busiest. On Wednesday morning we went to the Sderot Playground. Sderot is a city located next to the Gaza Strip. The indoor playground, constructed only a year ago, provides children with the opportunity to socialize and play without worrying about the ever-present threat of rocket attacks. The Sderot Playground acts as a bomb shelter in case of emergencies. The playground provides the children of Sderot and their parents with a variety of services.

Tzfat to TLV is a long way!

We awoke on day four well-rested and ready to begin a new week of our journey. After a quick breakfast, the group boarded the bus to set off for the holy city of Tzfat. We arrived in Tzfat and quickly realized that today might be the hottest day yet, but a las we had places to go and things to see. We started our Tsfat journey by walking through the winding streets and alleys. It quickly became apparent to us that this city was unlike any we have in the US. The streets were lined with little shops and were barely wide enough to drive on which made it an ideal way for us to see the city.

Hi! This is Abby and Katie writing to tell you more about our amazing trip as it continues. Yesterday we left our hotel after breakfast to travel to the northern part of Israel for a strenuous but beautiful hike in the Jilaboon. After two hours hiking down the valley in the hot sun, we came to a refreshing waterfall and swimming area. After climbing back up from swimming in the pool with crabs and playing under the waterfall, we went for lunch at a local food court type of place. Swarma and falafel ensued.

Welcome to Israel...And Then It All Began

Landed in Israel and when we exited baggage claim the Israeli’s were waiting for us dancing and singing, as was my cousin!! I’ve never met her before, aside from Skype and it was amazing to be greeted by everyone and get to see a family member right away. I was exhausted but ready for the day, and it was action packed!! It is all a blur, we went to an overlook to have breakfast and then headed to the hotel for orientation where we all got to know each other and talk about the trip ahead of us. We met our tour guide Ori who is very animated and incredibly informative.

Extra Tid-Bits

Here are a few things to think about for your trip to Israel!

Your Family History - Do you know where your relatives were during World War II and the Holocaust? We'd like to share as we prepare for our visit to Yad Vashem.

Calling all Actors, Musicians and Artists - We may need your skills and if you have an instrument, please bring it! It adds so much the atmosphere and group experience.
