Day 3: Saturday
Rockin' through the Weekend
We spent a wonderful Shabbat at Kibbutz Malcia, during which we relaxed and got to know each other better, but also spent time discussing important issues in Israel, particularly the issues surrounding the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, the 4th anniversary of whose kidnapping was on Friday.
Participant Blogger Amanda Hitchcock: the first two days
One of our participants, Amanda Hitchcock, wrote the following to share her thoughts on the first two days of the trip:
“Hello everyone at home! Welcome to the Bus 322 blog (yeah!)! Israel is amazing and we’re all having a great time. There’s already so much we’ve seen and so little time to write it down, but it’s already our second day, so let’s have a brief recap:
Day 1 (or 1.5): Hiking the Golan, welcoming the Shabbat
We arrived safely in Israel Thursday afternoon (just a little bit late) and headed North to our kibbutz in the Golan Heights, stopping along the way in Kahal and had our first of what will be many breathtaking bird's eye views of Israel. We also had a welcoming ceremony and spent time meditating on our expectations for the trip.
