Today was an unexpected perspective changing experience. We started off in the early morning towards Har Herzl which is a national Israeli military cemetery. We discussed the impact of army and war on the lives of Israelis. What was not anticipated was how emotionally moving the visit would be for the entire group. While walking through the cemetery there was a particular mother and father who was there visiting their sons grave. I watched as the mother carefully washed off the tombstone and watered the plants on his grave.
