Day Six: Dont approach this seriously....

May
22

Greetings from the Bedouin Tents in the Negev Desert (home to world's sassiest camels). We had a jam packed day that originated in the holy city of Jerusalem. This morn we arose to the whispers of holy spirits as they nuzzeled us from rest. A feast awaited us travelers in the palace, Caesar's Palace. Breads, eggs, cheeses and pasteries, seduced our taste buds in a state of salivary bliss. Like a batallion of King David's army we mobilized to our means of travel (Jobi's Bus). For a fortminute, we traveled to Yad Vashem (The Israeli Holocaust Museum).

Arriving in Jerusalem

We went to the site where David Ben Gurion declared the Independce of the State of Israel. The passionate tour guide made us feel the importance of the time. Than we went to the Biblical Gardens and did one of the most important things you could do in Israel, plant a tree. We also were able to make our own spices for lunch. Finally we made our way to Jerusalem where we looked at the old city and were able to visit one of the holiest places, the Western Wall.

Visiting Boston's Sister City: Haifa

We travelled to Haifa to visit the Gabriele school where we gave them new gym equipment that was bought from money raised by a funraiser this year at Northeastern. The school taught some of the poorest kids in Haifa, yet they had really high spirits when we came to visit. We had a chance to play with the children and the new equipment as well as play bingo and have a dance party with them. Saying goodbye to the kids was hard but we continued on to a shook in old Jaffa, Tel Aviv.

6:45 was my first sight this morning, it was time to start our day. With a 7:15 breakfast and a loaded schedule there was no time to waste.
We ate a quick meal and hopped the bus to Golan Heights.

Once we arrived we got right to it, a two and a half hour hike was ahead, this one being more challenging than our opening hike on Friday. New landscapes, animals, and plants were all at our fingertips. As a group we marched together till we reached our oasis, the waterfall.

Second day

Shalom!
It's already our second full day in Israel and time has been flying. After an exhausting day of travel and hiking, we arrived at the Kibbutz yesterday afternoon. The views here are amazing; the landscape is beautiful and the people are friendly. Stray dogs and cats provide us Americans with endless entertainment. However, we were certainly feeling the effects of jet lag and welcomed our day of relaxation and Shabbat celebrations.
