Day 1 (or 1.5): Hiking the Golan, welcoming the Shabbat

We arrived safely in Israel Thursday afternoon (just a little bit late) and headed North to our kibbutz in the Golan Heights, stopping along the way in Kahal and had our first of what will be many breathtaking bird's eye views of Israel. We also had a welcoming ceremony and spent time meditating on our expectations for the trip.

Today (Friday), we hiked the Gilabun trail to the gorgeous Devorah falls and swam in the spring at the foot of the waterfall. We also toured an olive oil factory and went to Mount Bental, where we learned about the Yom Kippur War and were able to view Israel and Syria.

We are now back at the kibbutz preparing for Shabbat, which we will spend here in the Golan Heights before heading to Tzfat, Mt. Arbel and Neve Tzedek on Sunday.

The group is getting along famously, and we cannot wait for the adventures the next days have in store!

Unfortunately, technical difficulties are preventing us from posting pictures or videos at this time. Stay posted for more updates which will hopefully include pictures and video clips.

Shabbat Shalom!
