Double the Fun Blog: Days 5&6!

Shalom All-

After a fun night in Tel Aviv, bus 113 traveled to Kiryat Gat. There we participated in community service activities with local highschool students from the community. It was amazing to make a connection with these kids, even though the language barrier proved to be quite a challenge. After digging for and making pottery, plus cooking some delicious pita, we headed to the one and only Jerusalem! We made our way through the old city and eventually finished our journey with the Cotel. It was incredible, and that dear friends, is putting it lightly! Once we finished placing notes in the Holy Wall and saw sites unique only to this city, we headed to Kibbutz Harel and called it a night!

Today we woke up bright and early (6:50 am was the meeting time. Ah!!) and discussed our personal experiences with the Holocaust. It was moving to see how closely we all are touched by it. We ventured out to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum and had a moving tour. They have artifacts that no other place dedicated to the Holocaust has, and it was truly amazing. We ended the tour with a testimony given by an actual Holocaust survivor. It was fascinating. After the museum we went to the Shuk (The Marketplace of Jerusalem) and got to purchase some delicious fruits and vegetables. It was quite the experience.

Now we are all prepping for Shabbos eve and cannot wait to celebrate the day of rest together. It is amazing how in one week we all have become so close. We all know these new friendships will last a lifetime.

Good Shabbos readers. We will be back to report on our ventures at tomorrows sunset. Until then, Shabbat Shalom!
