Getting to know the Israelis on our bus

On our way to the Golan Heights, took an impromptu pit stop, after bladders reached maximum capacity. Sitting next to Omer, I am being enveloped into the culture exchanging stories and cultural differences. It’s amazing to hear from someone my age who has lived a completely different life, bound by an ancient history divided by a vast ocean and a biblical language. I never thought of going to war, or validating my actions through military pursuits. I have never feared a draft, and yet the IDF is eminent for most, like Omer. We are more similar than we realize, how we laugh at the same humor and seek the same basic human needs, Gas stations are lighted the same coca cola signs and bound by the same gas lines and concrete foundation, but there’s no bamba in the U.S.
