Off to Jerusalem!

June 8th, 2010

WOW!!!! What a trip this has been so far! It has really been everything I expected and more. Today we are going to Jerusalem, and I really can’t wait. I’m excited to see the old city and hear about all the amazing history that has taken place here. This morning, in our new Kibbutz that everyone is enjoying, I tried a new sweet dessert item called “halva”. It’s made out of sesame. It’s really great. I’m loving all the new things that I’m trying. Yesterday for lunch we ate at a restaruant called Dr. Shakshuka. Shakshuka is a dish that has tomatoes and sunny side up eggs. It was a very interesting array of flavors. I absolutely loved walking around in the flee markets yesterday in Jafa, a town in Tele Viv. Leslie and I noticed all the amazing architecture within some of the stores. And of course, it’s always fun to SHOP SHOP! Yesterday we also got the opportunity to work with some Israeli children. We were all saying how even though they are so far away from America, all little kids act the same! They were so cute. It was really fun speaking with them and having our Israelis translate for us because of the language barrier. Last night we had an Israeli man come speak to us about Israeli film. He went to a film school in Israel and currently works in the media business. He was so interesting and showed us two Israeli short films. It really exposed us more to the pop culture in Israel. I loved it!
That’s all for now, parents!
