A little taste of Tel Aviv
Sunday...
We said goodbye this morning to our beautiful kibbutz in the Golan. Sad as we were, we were delighted to continue on our journey to Mitzpe Gadot , is a JNF site which monument for the Israeli soldiers who fought in the Six Day war. We then made our way to the mystical city of Tzfat. There we learned about the history and people of this mystical city and had a meditation session in a beautiful ancient synagogue. We had lunch in Tzfat and then made our way to Tel-Aviv...
Our first stop in Tel Aviv was the Rabin Square. Tzach and Ori, our amazing tour guides, told the group about Yitzchak Rabin. We learned about his desire for peace and assassination. Then in groups we walked around the square and asked people questions about him. We got a chance to hear a first hand account from Israelis what happened to the country after the assassination. After speaking to people we came back as a group to discuss what we had learned. Many people said the moral in the country was in a state of shock and many people were scared to speak up for what they believed in. Many participants compared this tragic event to the assassination of JFK and 9/11. The gorup then went back to the hotel and had a free evening out in Tel-Aviv.
