Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim and PELIE bring Jewish Educators to Israel

For the first time, Jewish educators who teach complementary (part-time) Jewish education will have the opportunity to spend 10 all-expenses-paid days in Israel, thanks to Taglit-Birthright Israel: Shorashim - Teacher Trek, a program created with the help of the Partnership for Effective Learning and Innovative Education (PELIE). Teacher Trek is an effort to build a deep connection between Jewish educators and the State of Israel, by allowing teachers to experience Israel’s geography, natural beauty and history first hand.

One of Shorashim’s most successful ventures is our “Shaliach Program,” where former Taglit-Birthright Israel participants recruit participants for future trips and compete for awards and prizes.

You might be asking yourself, “Should I sign up to be a Shaliach?” Shorashim’s answer would be “absolutely.” There is nothing to lose and no commitment if you find that you’re not up to it. But we figured that you would want to hear from actual recruiters so that you know exactly what you are getting into if you choose to sign up.

When does registration for summer trips begin?
Registration begins on September 14 at 10 a.m. EST. If you have registered for a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip in the past (and did not go) you can take advantage of the special early registration date, September 13, at noon EST

As our summer Taglit-Birthright Israel season comes to an end, Shorashim is so grateful to all of our partner organizations, staff, and most of all to our participants who registered with Shorashim last February and for the past 22 Taglit-Birthright Israel seasons.
