Havdallah
Every day and every week must come to an end, and in is Israel this time is sacred. We spent the first end to our first week in Israel celebrating and experiencing shabbat on the Malkiya Kibbutz. After a day of games, pooltime, sunshine and of course a challenge. We finished our day with a Havdallah service. Havdallah marks the end of Shabbat and the beginning of the rest of the week.
We took this opportunity to stand, sway, sing and pray together. Our 2 youngest participants held the braided Havdallah candle and the wine glass. As the wine and spices were passed around we sang prayers for the end of Shabbat, the beginning of the new week, wine, spices, and the candles.
On to the work week!!
