Day Two

We all awoke bright and early for breakfast at the hotel. Then we boarded the bus, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, to go on a little jaunt to see archaeological ruins. This place was on Mount Sataf, a short but refreshing hike that although downhill, consisted of many scenic views. Afterwords, we proceeded to visit a famous windmill, which unfortunately only worked for the first week of its exsistence. We then went on to eat Israeli cuisine (and McDonalds) in the district known as Emek Refaim. At lunch we tried some new israel food like Falafel, Shuwarma, and many interesting flavors of bagels and "Meorav Yerushalmi." It was very cold compared to what we thought it would be... Afterwards we went to the old city of Jerusalem, to visit some really cool and very old street of J-town. We learned a little bit about the history of israel, the Jerusalem syndrom, and about judaism. We visited the Western Wall. On the men's side, there were a lot of people praying. The entire wall was almost filled with people, and we could barely reach the wall to put in our paper. Then we ate dinner back at the hotel -- it was delicious. We ate hummus, rice, soup, pie, etc. Then we went to bed and it was a joyous experience. We learned a lot of new hebrew words: kavod = respect sababa = cool, fun. bakbook = bottle pkak = cap laila tov = good night boker tov = good morning toda = thank you We even learned how to hoedown, and Lior sang us a little song: "All of the Americans, welcome to Taglit we have a lot of fun, and we drink and eat. Even though we're tired, we're gonna have a blast. And all you girls will find a Jewish hubby at last" Overall, our Taglit trip has hit the ground running and we all cannot wait for what happens next!
