Shorashim Receives Quality Award from Taglit-Birthright Israel
At its semi-annual trip organizer's meeting on September 2, 2009, Taglit-Birthright Israel recognized Shorashim's outstanding acheivement in the area of mifgash, encounter between North American Jews and Israeli peers. The award is part of a new program initiated by Taglit-Birthright Israel to identify trip organizers who show outstanding quality in their programs.
Shorashim was presented with the award by Charles Bronfman, a long-time advocate of mifgash and one of the original concievers of and philanthropists for Taglit-Birthright Israel. As part of the award, Shorashim recieved one extra bus during this the Winter 2009/10 round of trips to add to its already diverse offering of community and special trip options.
Shorashim has been recognized as a pioneer in the area of mifgash since 1983, and through consultation, advice, and assistance, helped to build the successful mifgash program that is a part of all Taglit-Birthright Israel programs.
Shorashim remains one of the only programs in which Israelis peers participate for the full 10 days of the Taglit-Birthright Israel program.
