Staff Positions

Staffing a Shorashim trip is very competitive. Shorashim works with a number of partners and many of our staff positions are committed to employees and affiliates of these organizations. That said, every round we are looking for a few amazing people to make the experience successful.

To apply to staff a Shorashim program you must meet these criteria:
over the age of 21
completed an Israel experience besides Taglit-Birthright Israel
If under the age of 25, completed college
consider yourself an educator in the broadest sense with some leadership experience (work, camp, lay leader)
involved in your Jewish community
a leader and a role model
travel well, be accustomed to working long hours under difficult conditions, and be a team player
willing to meet with Shorashim or a Shorashim representative in person (in Chicago, Boston, New York or DC)
willing to travel at your expense to attend a 4 hour orientation in one of the following cities:

Boston ( noon to 4 p.m. December 1 at CJP)

New York (noon to 4 p.m., December 14 at JNF)

Chicago (Sunday, December 5 all new staff 1 to 4 p.m. at Shorashim) and/or November 30 (new and returning staff 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Shorashim) and Shabbat dinner on December 3 at a home Lakeview.

DC (5:30-9 on December 20 at the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD)

If you think that you have what it takes, you should do two things:

1. Sign up to be a Shorashim Shaliach. If we have more applicants, we have more trips, and will need more staff. It also demonstrates to us your commitment to our program.

2. Send your resume with relevant Israel experience and three references to birthrightisrael@shorashim.org. Please note that we will only contact suitable applicants.
3. Become a fan of Shorashim on Facebook.

We look forward to seeing you in Israel!
