Starting the trip off right- adventures up north!

Shalom, from Israel! After our short flight from Chicago to Tel Aviv, we were greeted with song and dance by our new Israeli friends. From the airport we took a bus to Kibbutz Hukuk in the Golan Heights. After a great meal and much needed nights rest, we awoke revitalized and ready to experience our first full day in Israel .

After sampling the Israeli shakshuka (seasoned egg dish) we took a hike on Gilabun travel trail. We explored volcanic caves and breathtaking waterfalls while learning about Israeli history.

Following our first encounter with the Israeli land we stopped in the town of Kazrin for shwarma, falafel, and schnitzel.

We then went to Mt.Bental, which is one of the highest points in the Golan. From atop the inactive military bunker we were provided with an all encompassing view of Syria and Israel’s tallest mountain, Mt.Hermon.

On our way back to the Kibbutz we stopped at an old Syrian bunker that has been converted into an Israeli memorial and we were treated to story from our bus driver Jobi. Jobi shared with us his experiences becoming an Israeli citizen at the birth of the state of Israel and his service spanning four Israeli wars.
