Tzfat and Haifa: Spirituality and Technology in Israel

We started off our third day with a beautiful and spiritual morning in Tzfat. Filled with ancient history, beautiful synagogues, and art galleries, we were spiritually inspired. Here are some thoughts from members of our group on spirituality:

"Spirituality is the belief in a higher power, or some connection to the universe - seeing the big picture."

"Spirituality, to me, is the individual experience of what we call religion. Someone's spirituality could be very different from the rules and traditions of organized religion. Each person's experience of spirituality is unique." - Zoe

"Spirituality means awareness of forces in the world. It calls for being more in tune with everyone and everything around me."

"Feeling connected to your religious and cultural roots."

"Spirituality is being conscious and introspective about your feelings, actions and values."

"Spirituality is trying to find the cause and effect of ones actions, values, decisions, and to use it to affect our environment, people, home, and closeness to god." - Robbie Mikels

"For me, spirituality is self discovery. It entails finding out what truly comprises you and in turn provides an appreciation and undersatanding of the world around you."

After Tzfat we drove to Haifa to spend the afternoon with our Boston-Haifa Connection partners, and stopped for lunch along the way where we learned the wonders of Aroma, the Israeli "Starbucks".

With a beautiful view of the entire city, the coast of Haifa and a session at the Haifa IBM Office, we got a great taste of Haifa and it's place in the high tech world. We also got the chance to meet some of the Young Leadership from the Boston-Haifa Connection and a better understanding of CJP's role in the partnership.

Tonight is our last night staying at Kibbutz Moran in the North. Tomorrow we head to Jerusalem where we will spend a relaxing and a meaningful Shabbat.

Great thought of the day:

"I am moved by how similar the Israeli young people are to Americans. I feel like we are all the same people but just in different countries."
