From Tzfat to Tel Aviv

Same Planet, different world. Or in this case, same 100 kilometers, different world. Every place in Israel is so different - from all the people, to the enviroment souronding it. On this soaring day we took our talents to Tzfat. You may have been wondering Tzaft we were doing. Between waking up early and all the bad puns we walked up some pretty big hills. But seriously we actually walked up a huge hill. When we reached the highest point of any city in Israel, it became clear to us why it is the holy city of the sky. On top on this mountian you could see everything and understand why our ancestors settled here. After seeing the city from above we descended to the streets below to traverse the sky. Now to clarify, the people of Tzfat believed that when the angel of death returns to Earth he will overlook their city and think he is in Heaven. To achieve this tomfoolary, the citizens painted everything they could blue - their doors, signs, and alleyways. As we walked through the slippery cobblestone streets we had the oppurntunity to see galleries feautuing Jewish works of art. As we sipped on our passion fruit smoothies we entered synogogues where some ancient rabbinic texts were written and saw a gorgeous holy ark that was hand carved over 40 years . After the synogogue we hopped on our magic bus and we zipped on our over to Tel Aviv. If Tzfat is holy then you can guess what Tel Aviv is. Our wings fell off and we had to drive normally constrained to the normal laws of traffic. It was a cruel torture to be stuck in traffic and moving past the beautiful beach at a snails pace. We crawled all the way to Independence Hall where we waited in the sun for our tour to start. After watching a brief history lesson we were spoken to by a passionate Israeli guide. This man's words flowed like a river into our hearts soaking us with information about the glourious birth of the Jewish state of Israel. When the lesson ended it was time to have some fun. After checking in to our "cozy" hotel and closely settling in we ate dinner and headed out for a glimpse at the Tel Aviv nightlife. Seth, Kuper, and Jeff
