A Visit to Jerusalem

Since commencing our Shorashim challenge, an abundance of meaningful "a-ha" moments have struck me. One of the most memorable experiences thus far has been the visit to Jerusalem, particularly praying at the wailing wall. Immediately upon facing the wall, I witnessed an outpour of emotion expressed by a number of women praying. This moved and inspired me in a such a way that I too, was unable to contain the flood of emotions that had unexpectedly come over me. I thus proceeded to place my letter to G-d into the wall, and embrace the moment or "spiritual awakening" that could perhaps better be described as a divine gift. While praying, I couldn't help but notice the interaction between women and their children, most of which consisted of dialogue pertaining to G-d. Many women had guided and instructed their children to ask G-d for whatever it is that their heart desires. Instead of having been mere witnesses or bystanders, the children were included and engaged in the experience and were encouraged to communicate with Hashem a way that was meaningful to them. The sight of this alone was one of the many highlights of the trip. Sofie
