Yad Vashem and Sataf

Tuesday, December 20,

Today was our last day in the heart of Jersalem. We went to the Yad Vashem which is Israel's Holocasut Memorial on Mt. Herzl. We had a tour around the museum with a great tour guide. As a group collectively we learned a lot more than we knew before about the Holocaust. We saw how World War II started and how the Jewish life in Eastern Europe had changed from 1940's to the end of the war, and even after. One of our group members gave us two phenominal stories about her grandparents history during that era. Towards the end of the tour we went through the Children's Memorial which honors the 1.5 million Jewish children who perished during the Holocaust. It was one of the most moving things to see and walk through. The Yad Vashem is one of the most touching and eye opening Holocaust Memorials there are in the world that has changed our group for the better. After the memorial we traveled off to a mall to grab some lunch, relax from our emotions, and hiked at Sataf. Sataf was a very beautiful place with perfect weather for hiking. Later on tonight we look foward to resting at the Bedouin tents, eating dinner together, and celebrating the first night of Chanukah. We wish all our parents and friends who are reading this a Hapy Chanukah tonight and wish we were all with you.

~Much love from the Shorashimers
