The year is coming to an end, celebrating in a kibbutz in the Negev after a riveting and intense discussion about the Arab-Israeli relation. Happy and healthy new year to all. And for us on Bus 48, we can truly say that we will spend next year (2016) in Jerusalem.
After a hearty sleep at our lovely hotel in Jerusalem, we awoke to a quick breakfast and got right in the bus for a busy day.
After learning from Bar (our Israeli tour guide) the history behind Rabin and his assassination, we were broken into groups to walk through the square, ask questions to Israelis about how they felt about the assassination and what it meant for the state of Israel. For me, this was an eye opening activity that was really beneficial to speak to Israelis in Tel Aviv to learn how they actually felt about how the assassination effected their lives and the future of Israel as a whole. Getting first handed accounts of how the people of Israel felt during this difficult time.
"Hiking Mt. Arbel was one of the best expirences of my life. The views were unbelievable! I am so grateful for this opportunity."-Rachel Shaykin
Today, we got to explore and discuss the beauty and complicated political climate of the Golan in the north of Israel. We left the kibbutz in search of natural beauty which we found during our morning hike, Zavitan.
Today was our first full day in Israel!
We had a very relaxful Shabbat that started our day off with a yoga session. We learned about the parsha of the week and acted it out using different themes.
We arrived safely in Israel!
After exchanging money and picking up new phones, we headed north.
We did our opening ceremony at Mount Arbel lookout where did an activity read a poem and toasted to a great trip!
We are excited for a relaxing and bonding Shabbat!
Get ready for an amazing adventure! #Birthright #Shorashim
