Bus 321 has safely landed in Israel
Massive cancelations of flights coming out of Chicago, major traffic coming into JFK, and an overheated, overcrowded terminal did not deter Bus 321 from reaching Israel. At approximately 1:45pm, local time, our flight touched down at Ben Gurion. We are ready to receive our Taglit!
The entire plane applauded as the wheels hit the runway. After passing through customs, we were greeted with song and dance by the Shorashim staff and some new Israeli friends. As I write this blog entry we are en-route to our official opening ceremonies taking place by the sea near Tel Aviv.
As one of those picked to lead this group I am overwhelmed with joy for the opportunity our participants have before them. Very few members of Bus 321 have ever set foot in this holy and beautiful country. I wonder if anyone in the group is prepared for and aware of the life changing journey we have only just begun. Together with my amazing co-madrichim (guides) Abby and Yossi I hope to allow the group to make the absolute most out of our next 10 days together.
I am also delighted to report that we have an amazing group of Jews on our bus. Each person I have met brings something very special to Bus 321. In less than 24 hours I have already seen 40 Americans forming the beginings of friendships with each other and their 7 Israeli brothers that have joined us.
The smile grows even bigger on my face as I picture us on the beach a few moments from now, standing next to the sea, saying the Shehechiyanu.
B'shalom,
