The First full Day Begins | Shorashim - Israel with Israelis

The First full Day Begins

The bus is on the edge of the sea of Galilee - We are going on a hilke today at jilaboon. Everyone is in high spirits and we all seem to be getting to know each other very well. ZWe hsave thrown ourselves into this new adventure with no hesitstions and grest enthusiassm. We will be pasing the border of Jordan very soon. It is surreal to see all of these places we've leasrned so much about from Hebrew school. It is mystical and most certainly unique. Already, I understand the importance of birthright trips, especially traveling with Israelis. They are kind, fun and fit right in with the Americans. Last night, we spoke very deeply asbout political and religious conflicts in this area, and were thoroughly impressed at how engaged, informed and impassioned our Israeli friends are. If they represent all of Israel's youth, This country is full of passionatre and scholarly individuals with greatly informed thought. We are blessed to know them, and lucky to have them along with us.

The geography is extremely unique. Some parts of this place look like Southern california, and some like nowhere else I have ever been. there is farmland on the edge of the sea, and great rolling hills on the other side of the road. It is hot, and beautiful, and we will have a good day. we have much learning yet to do, and everyone seems enthusiastic about doing that. Sight seeing is one thing.Learning about the holy land is another, and they come together in one experience, where we will see the modern Isreal and be provided with vivid images of the past by our gifted and brilliand guide, Yosie. We are almost there, so until tomorrow.
