Hiking | Page 2 | Shorashim - Israel with Israelis

The highlight of the day was when we were surprised with a trip to the home of an Israeli participant who lives on a Kibbutz nearby. It was so special to learn about this aspect of Israeli life and get the inside scoop of what it's like to live on a Kibbutz up North.

We arrived at Mearat Keshet. The way we went through this site was absolutely beautiful.

We formed a circle in the airport, chanting and dancing to "achim" and "simcha" which means "brothers" and "happiness." This quickly broke the ice and we were off to the North of Israel!

We snapped many photos of the picture perfect view of the sun rising over the Mars looking landscape of the Dead Sea area.

Reflecting on the new experiences I had today reminded me of how lucky I am to have received this gift. There is no gift like it anywhere.

As soon as we knew it, we were at the top of the desert mountain, where every thing stood still. A breeze ran past our group as we looked over the edge and took in all the beauty. It was truly something.

It was a great day and another opportunity to get to know the other participants on the trip.

We  ended the day with the most fun activity, kayaking on the Jordan River. Now we are about to celebrate our first Shabbat in Israel and we could not be more excited to experience it.

Shortly after learning about the history, we hiked down deep, dark stairs to a cave. We all circled up as a group and sang Hallelujah. It was a special moment that we will never forget.
