Yitzhak Rabin | Shorashim - Israel with Israelis

We spent the entire day in the beautiful city of Tel Aviv! Our group was inspired by the quote: "If you will it, it is no dream" - Theodore Herzl

In the middle of Tel Aviv where the city is very much alive and thriving Israel lost one of its most important, beloved, and decisive prime ministers.  We interviewed people who were his soldiers, people who heard the gunshots, and others who were all touched by his death in some way.

The night was a blast! We celebrated through the night with dancing and good conversation. Only after being in Israel for a few days, us Americans and Israelis had become great friends. To think that this is only the first third day of the trip!

We walked to the largest shuk, or open market, in Tel Aviv, Shuk H'Carmel and it was incredible! There were merchants shouting out their prices and boasting the superiority of their products. We were offered "special" prices everywhere we went because we were on Birthright but our Israeli friends and our staff made sure we were getting the best deals possible!

Experiencing the local cuisine and atmosphere are my favorite ways of appreciating a different culture, and I'm looking forward to all the delicious tastes Jerusalem has to offer.

Tzfat represents air. We were fascinated by the holy atmosphere surrounding us everywhere we walked. We had a little bit of free time to explore the area and we also listened to two of Tzfat's musicians play us Jewish music.

In Tel Aviv, we experienced the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of an open air market, where you can find anything from counterfeit merchandise to handmade jewelry

I never realized how influential Rabin was in the war of independence and the role he played during the siege of Jerusalem. He was such an important Israeli General and politician.

We started our day at Independence Hall where we learned about the history of the state of Israel. We stood in the actual room where Ben Gurion declared Israel an independent state.
