Bedouin Tents | Shorashim - Israel with Israelis

Bedouin Tents

Yesterday, Bus 138 took a journey to the Bedouin tents in the Negev Desert. When we arrived, we were surrounded by numerous green tents. The tent that our group stayed in housed all 47 of us. Each person was given a colorful, patterned twin mattress to sleep on, as well as, a light-weight sleeping bag. For dinner, we ate a delicious homemade meal consisting of chicken and rice, pita, cucumber salad, Israeli salad, and different types of hummus. A man who belonged to the Bedouin community taught us about the history, traditions, and current life of the Bedouins and shared his home-ground coffee. Before bed, the Israelis in our group led a competition to see who could put on their soldier uniforms the fastest. As the night came to a close, we sang happy birthday to Madeleine and made s'mores over the bonfire. In the morning, we rode camels around a scenic route of the beautiful desert. It was a great way to end our visit to the Negev.
