Day Four: Tzfat, Haifa, and Tel Aviv!
We awoke to rainy weather--what the group learned was "happy" weather for the Israelis who feel the effects of the water shortage problems in Israel--and headed to Tzfat from Kibbutz Afik. The group wandered the cobblestone streets of the city, taking in the architecture and the beautiful stone and blue motif. After seeing a synagogue, we met up with Avraham, an olim who moved to Tzfat to pursue his passions: art and Kabbalah, and combining the two.
After lunch in Tzfat, the bus drove to Haifa, where everyone was able to learn about the Israeli Air Force firsthand by visiting the airforce base where our Israeli soldier, Shay, works. The group was able to connect with high-school students in our Partnership 2000 activity, which was especially meaningful since Haifa is Boston's sister city! We had to say goodbye to our new friends at the base, and drove south to Tel Aviv. In an unbelievable performance, Udi Krauss was able to rouse the group with his fun and funny performance of Israeli music. This wonderful performance was a great start to a night out in Tel Aviv for the group. Overall, a busy day in three awesome Israeli cities!
