Emotions at the Western Wall

To start off our day we went to Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, which was very beautiful and gave me an interesting perspective on Jewish tragedies. There we many different point of views surrounding Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, it was life altering for Israelis, just like Americans on 9/11 and the JFK assassination. Next we went to Jerusalem and had lunch in the German Colony. I experienced shwarma for my first time and it was amazing! After lunch we went through Zion Gate to the Old City and it was an amazing experience. To see all the culture and history behind within those walls was astonishing. After we explored the Jewish Quarter we all walked to the Kotel (Western Wall) with our eyes closed, those who had already visited the Kotel, guided those of us who would be seeing it for the first time. Walking to the Kotel with my eyes closed made the journey towards the wall a great time with an amazing surprise once I finally opened my eyes. The Western Wall was an emotional experience for me. When I first got to the wall, I felt the power of history and all the emotions put into the wall. Once i got to the front of the wall I put in my letter I wrote and started crying. Being able to feel all the compassion that people put towards this place touched me emotionally. Plus the fact that what I wrote was very meaningful for me had me crying. To me, having faith in a god is challenging, and knowing how much faith is in that one part of the wall left me stunned. It also got me emotional because if there really is a god, with what i wrote and put in the wall, will hopefully come true. Just that thought alone is amazing in my eyes. To share your problems and worries with someone else, let alone god is such a euphoric feeling. With that, the Western Wall was an amazing experience and something I will remember for the rest of my life.
