Friday-Sunday
We began Friday by hiking in the Golan Heights near the Syrian-Israeli border, where we enjoyed spectacular scenery while getting a good workout at the same time. We also learned about the significance of The Kinneret, or The Sea of Galilee as it is called in English. Israel is dependent upon The Kinneret for its fresh water supply, but recently The Kinneret has been several meters shallower than in years past.
After this we got ready to celebrate Shabbat, and it was very meaningful for us to be able to celebrate Shabbat here in Israel. On Saturday we were able to relax, and after engaging in so many different activities over the past week, we were able to understand a little better the importance of taking a day off.
Finally, today we went to the ancient city of Tzfat, one of Judaism's four holy cities. Here we learned about Kaballah, visited an historic synagogue, and enjoyed some authentic Yemenite cuisine. In addition to all the history, Tzfat is also now a major artist community, and there were many great artist's galleries throughout the town.
