Ma Yafeh Hayom - Shabbat Shalom

Day two came quicker than we thought, but breakfast was a real treat. We enjoyed our first taste of coffee in Israel and it held up to our expectations!

After breakfast, it was time to fill our heads with knowledge and work on teamwork. We headed out into Jerusalem on foot to a local park called Saker Garden to learn about traditions in Judaism. Gathered around in the grass, our Israeli leader Moose educated us on the parsha; a special section from the Torah that is assigned each week. We truly got to see some personalities in our group as they acted out this week's parsha and truly opened the doors for getting to know each other. After a relaxing morning we headed back to our hotel for a delicious Shabbat lunch, learning more about the Kiddush as it was recited by an Israeli volunteer and one of our own volunteers in English. What a cool learning experience in every thing we do!

Our group then got together for our second stroll into Jerusalem where we headed to Kiriat Haleom to bond as a team. Moose, Leah and Sam put us to the test with several ice breaker and team challenge activities that showed us we truly are going to become a family at the end of this experience. We shared laughs with our Israeli friends, our leaders and our group. What a breath of fresh air this trip has been so far. With a beautiful walk back to our hotel, we got our first taste of freedom as we enjoyed an hour of free time to enjoy the pool, play volleyball and get to know each other under the Israel sunshine.

After packing our bags and coming together as a group, we set out on our travel to the North to the Karei Deshe Guest house in Galilee. Making our first meal stop along the way, we were all more than excited to break out the Shekels and pick our first fun meal in Israel. Discovering we all had different taste, it was fun to get to see, smell and taste something new in Israel while traveling to our next destination. We arrived at our Kibbutz in time to go to our rooms and throw on pajamas before getting some shut eye for our real first day of adventure.

We are loving Israel!
