Carly Greenspan

Where are you from originally and where do you live now? Originally from West Bloomfield, Michigan and now I live in Chicago.

What do you for a living? I work for Metro Chicago Hillel.

When did you go to Israel for the first time? On a 10 day family mission trip with the Detroit Jewish community back in 2005.

What's your favorite Israeli food/favorite place in Israel to eat it? Shakshuka sitting at any restaurant along the beach!

What's a random, fun fact about yourself? I like to read my horoscope everyday.

If you could bring one thing back to America from Israel, what would it be? The mentality of Israelis.

What's your favorite place to visit in Israel? Rosh HaNikra is my favorite site to visit in Israel, but nothing compares to spending hours in Tel Aviv.

What's the #1 reason that you recommend that your friends and family should go on Taglit-Birthright Israel with Shorashim? Israel is the most beautiful, complex and unique place that everyone should experience and what better way than with their peers on Taliglit-Birthright Israel?

Coby Engelhart

Where are you from originally and where do you live now? Born, raised, and currently live in Illinois

What's a random fun fact about yourself? I love watermelon popsicles.

When did you go to Israel for the first time? My first time in Israel was on a Bar Mitzvah trip with my family in 1996.

What's your favorite place to bring Taglit-Birthright Israel groups? Masada for sunrise.

If there was one aspect of Israel that you could bring back to America with you, what would it be? Fluffy, durable pita.

What's your favorite place to visit in Israel? My favorite places to visit in Israel are nature trails and parks; either the lush greenery of the North, or the stark, dry, white of the South.

What's the #1 reason that you recommend that your friends and family should go on Taglit-Birthright Israel with Shorashim? It's all about the Israelis. Shorashim has been running cross-cultural programs in Israel for North Americans and Israelis for decades. They have been able to apply their successful model to the Birthright format, and the result is an authentic, one-of-a-kind experience.

If you could say one thing to future participants, what would it be? Leave your comfort zone home and be free to experience.

Why is it important to you to have Israelis on the trip for all 10 days? I think there is no better way to understand a country - being with locals is the best way to travel - you`re not a tourist any more.
