Shabbat (Friday Night)
Our first shabbat here has been very meaningful. We started with a discussion about the prayer Lecha Dodi. We shared a shabbat meal and prayer together. After dinner we had discussion on what it means to be a good Jew. We were given roughly 20 sentences and had to rank the top 3 (some groups did 4) Some groups felt identifying as a Jew, Remembering your Jewish History and spreading your faith to your children were most important. Other ones were respecting other people, remembering the Holocaust, serving in the IDF and marrying a Jew. It was very interesting to hear the different opinions and beliefs.
I'm looking forward to seeing family, some uncles I have never met as well as my Grandfather who I haven't seen since I was a child.
