Day 3: Tzfat, Jaffa, and Tel-Aviv | Shorashim - Israel with Israelis

Day 3: Tzfat, Jaffa, and Tel-Aviv

Our day started with a trip to Tzfat, a beautiful old "neighborhood." We were told a story about a woman who would wait outside everyday with two cups of tea waiting for the Messiah to come. She sat there everyday and one day someone asked why she had two cups and she responded that she did not know which cup of tea the Messiah would like. We sat with some Israelis who played music for us. It was amazing to watch these men play such different kinds of instruments. After that we walked through to an old synagogue which was just beautiful. Afterwards we were able to walk around and see local art, jewelry, and crafts throughout Tzfat. The best part of this was talking to all the local shop owners and hearing their stories and how their art came to be. Everything had a meaning and everything was just so special.

After lunch we went to Jaffa where we walked around and up to the top of it! On our way out we walked across a bridge and were told to find our zodiac sign and make a wish facing the Mediterranean Sea!!!! We then ended our adventure at Independence Hall where we learned how Israel was named a State. It was amazing to see just where Israel made its name. We sat in the actual room where David Ben Gurion addressed the country!

We ended our night at the Mediterranean Sea hanging with the group. It seemed so surreal to be on the beach of the Mediterranean! The time we have spent here has been so amazing I have never felt so proud to be Jewish and so blessed to be on a trip like this. I cannot wait to arrive in Jerusalem!!!!

Shalom,
