Friday: Rabin Square and Jerusalem's Old City

Friday:
Friday morning we visited Yitzchak Rabin Square. The group then split up and walked around the square and asked local Israelis questions about the impact Yizchak Rabin had on Israel and how they feel about the future of peace between Israrelis and Arabs in Israel. It was extremely interesting to learn that most of the Israelis we had the chance to interview do not believe that peace is viable. Some of us had the chance to interview Israelis who were nearby when Yitzchak Rabin was shot. After our visit to the square, we traveled to Jerusalem! We had the chance to walk around some of the cities of Jerusalem, shop and eat shnitzel, falafel and other delicious Israeli foods. We then explored the Jewish quarter and traveled to the Western Wall. The experience at the Wall was very meaningful for everyone. We were intrigued by the variation in the male and female sections. After we all had the chance to add our notes in the cracks of the wall we began our preparations for Kabbalat Shabbat. We rejoiced in candle lighting, songs, and a delicious Shabbat feast. Overall, we had a very meaningful Friday and couldn’t wait for time to relax on Shabbat!
