So much fun we haven't been able to blog in a few days
Hello readers! Welcome to the Shorashim BUS 222 blog! Natalie here, blogging about our past three days on our wonderful journey around our holy land. Friday night, we had a phenomenal Shabbat dinner and service. Katie Pearlman sang a beautiful song for all of us by Adele, called Hometown Glory. After Shabbat dinner we talked about our feelings. It was very fun and we all got to know each other very well. The next morning, we woke up late (finally) and went to the park to play some soccer and relax. Shabat was very relaxing because we have not stopped moving the entire trip. Shabbat is the day of rest and we had a great time. That afternoon we went back to the guest house and talked about what we were going to experience the next day at the Holocaust museum, "Yad Vashem". Everyone shared personal stories and opinions and it was great. The next morning we went to Yad Vashem. It was incredibly emotional and touched all of our hearts in a big way. After the museum we went to Sderot and visited the children's play place so that we could play with the children, even though there was like two children there. Then we went to a Kibbutz and danced! crazy!!!!!!!!! We got the full kibbutz experience. The next morning we loaded the bus and went to a farm. Asaf was so cute when he woke us up on the bus he said, "Wakey Wakey". Then we picked radishes and carrots and lettuce and tomatoes and sage and pita out of the ground and ate them all. Yum yum! We learned how to be good farmers in Israel. After that, we went to Ben Gurion's grave, and went to that really big crater in the middle of the desert. It was so cool! Then Asaf took us on a nature walk in an Oasis and it was beautiful and some people were mean to us there so Asaf was mad at told them that nobody owns nature, the NATURE IS OURS! Then we went to the Bedouin tents and ate food that was so good and fresh. We ate with our hands and then talked to Sallah, who is the head of the village. He made us take coffee and tea. Then we sat by the fire and made toasted marshmallows with everyone and it was so yummy. Ha Ochel Hazeh Mamash Tayim. We slept on the ground underneath the starts and it was romantic and beautiful. We woke up at FOUR AM. I repeat FOUR AM. It was funny because some people snored at night. Then we hiked Masada the easy way up which honestly was quite hard. Then we spent a while up there and it looked like the moon. Then we went down the mountain and I was really sick and dehydrated and Vinny was so helpful! Then we got down and went to the dead sea and it rocked and then we shopped in Jerusalem! XOXO, LAILA TOV <3
