ISRAEL DAY 4: Yes Please, Tel Aviv!

By Perry Wolfman

The day had come! Tel Aviv awaits! A pretty long bus drive led us to the Shuk Ha-Carmel Market, where I got to meet up with Alan! It was great to see him in person after so many phone calls.

While catching up, we grabbed lunch and traveled around Rothschild street looking at the various vendors. Alan was even kind enough to buy me a fruit blend of banana, passion fruit, and possibly a third fruit which sent my taste buds on vacation.

13:30 O'clock hit and The Fam was off to The Independence Museum, where in 1948 Israel was founded as an independent state. Entering that building was an amazing opportunity, especially because of the air conditioning. :)

But really, to see the site where Ben Gurion stood and declared in his tinted Polish-Hebrew accent that Israel was a state was very moving to everyone in the group. This included some of the Israelis like Bareket who was visiting this hall for the first time just like us.

Leaving the most truly historic place on the trip, as well as one of the best air conditioning units that day, the next stop was at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. This building also included the Birthright Entrepreneurship Center...and man was it fancy!!! This Center had all the highest quality Israeli tech, and it was so cool. I'm talking all types of inventions: Air becomes NYC water, Cherry tomatoes, car sensor motions, devices where you can see sound, SSD sensory substitution device, and face recognition technology. The best by far was cherry tomatoes. :)

Finally, we hoped back on the bus and drove to the Ruth Daniel Guest hotel. Quickly we dropped our bags off, ate dinner, and went out for a night tour with an Israeli artist named Niro Taub. He showed us some fascinating graffiti and explained the true lifestyle of some of the artists. He was VERY cool.

Saying farewell to Niro, we had two and a half hours to hang in the nightlife of Flourintine.

I recalled that there was a Moses Burgers in Tel Aviv and Ofir yet again was to the rescue. With our Israeli hero, we managed to find and dine the hotspot I was looking forward to. All I can say is after waiting 4 years and traveling through Israel, Moses did not disappoint.

That managed to wrap up the day as we headed back to the hotel.
