Hiking Masada

By Alison Steinberg

It's 10:45am and we feel like it's time for a nap and dinner already. We've been up for 6 hours so far...it's going to be a long and adventurous day. :)

Surprisingly, I woke up this morning energized, ready to hike Masada!!! Since I would not jave considered myself in shape to climb a mountain and I do not hike often (and by often I mean ever) I was nervous standing at the bottom, looking up to the sky at the top of Masada. I was imagining myself sweating and gasping for air on my way up.

However, the trek up the mountain flew by. My adrenaline somehow got me up - and then again down - Masada. I was tired, hot, and out of breath, but looking back, I don't think about how my body was feeling. All I could feel was proud and excited.

Not only did I get to watch a breathtaking sunrise, but I felt invincible- like I could conquer anything.

After the hot hike back down the mountain, my legs were shaking like jello, but I felt not only happy, but also extremely accomplished. I cannot wait to conquer Masada again.
